Children’s Ministry

Children are a vital part of the church community. A solid foundation of relationship with God through biblical stories can support a healthy spiritual life as children grow into youth and older adulthood.  Although our programs have changed in post-pandemic life, a commitment to the education of children and ministry with their families remains.  The church seeks to be part of your larger community that nurtures children through life stages.  Let us help you navigate a family faith journey as we walk alongside one another in community.

Kids' Worship at 9:30 am

Kids' Worship began as a once per month commitment to designing a worship service that kids could fully participate in, wiggles, giggles and all.  You might have heard it called Prayground.  It has now evolved to be every Sunday morning at 9:30am.  Children and their families are invited to worship God through song, dance, prayer, biblical stories read from a Children's Bible and engagement of those stories.  Engagement of the stories helps children more fully understand and build their foundation.  This service is designed with children ranging from infants to approximately third grade in mind, however the level of engagement will differ at each stage of a child's developmental level.  For those older than third grade, you are invited to help us lead worship through sharing gifts you have or are exploring.

Children's Church during the 10:30am Worship

Our 10:30am worship service begins with the entire community.  Shortly after worship begins, children are invited to hear a children's message pertaining to this week's scripture.  After their message, they are welcome to remain in worship or join other children to engage this week's scripture more fully in ways that support the development of children and their faith formation.  Children's Church is for children ranging from three years to 5th grade.  Youth are encouraged to volunteer or remain in worship.

A sample lesson includes opening prayer, fellowship sharing since the last time we met, reading the biblical story or hearing the story told through video, engagement of that story, and closing prayer.  Kids are encouraged to lead portions such as prayer where they can pray freely or share a memorized prayer.  On the third Sunday of the month, children will return after the sermon and join the entire community in receiving Communion.

Intergenerational Worship

On the 5th Sunday of the month, children are invited to remain in worship with their families.  Children are encouraged to share their gifts or explore their gifts in worship alongside their family.  You will see the community come together to worship as one as children offer prayers, read scripture, greet the community or assist with Communion.
